Hugh founded Quintana Petroleum Corporation in 1932. The company's mining division — Quintana Minerals Corporation— was formed 31 years later.

Now, the corporation is a management company run by the Robertson family. Corbin J. Robertson Jr. is Cullen's grandson.

The late Dolph Briscoe, Jr., was the governor of Texas from 1973 to 1979. The family's holdings, spanning over 1,000 square miles, are overseen by Dolph "Chip" Briscoe III, according to the report.
